The Yuba College Dual Enrollment Program allows high school students to complete college coursework while in high school. The main benefit of this program is to allow students to complete some or all of their college general education requirements, for FREE (students responsible for any textbooks and supplies required by the courses they take), while in high school.

Here are some frequently asked questions and answers regarding the Yuba College Dual Enrollment Program:
  • How do I begin the Dual Enrollment Process?
  • Please note, submitting the recommendation form is not the first step. Students must submit an online application to Yuba College, the direct link is https://www.opencccapply.net/gateway/apply?cccMisCode=291 . Students will create a CCCApply account, log into it, and submit an application to Yuba College for whichever semester they want to take classes.

  • Can we put summer and fall class selections on one form?
  • No, you will need one form for summer, another form for fall, and another for the spring

  •  I put the class choice on the form for both summer and fall sessions, but what if the classes I chose are full?
  • It is a first-come first-serve system in which students search for their courses and enroll themselves in any open/available sections of said course. Courses fill up very quickly, so if you have more than one student taking classes, have them both/all login to their respective WebAdvisor accounts simultaneously and enroll themselves.

  • Submission of the High School Recommendation Form is mandatory so that Yuba College admissions can verify the eligibility of each student for each of the courses they are hoping to enroll in this summer/fall/spring. COURSES WILL FILL UP, if this happens student will need to search for and enroll in alternate courses or they may choose to wait and try again the following semester.

  •  How do I get siblings in the same courses?
  • By having siblings logged in and enrolling at the same time, they will better their chances of being in the same course. However, this is not guaranteed.
  •  If the forms aren’t correct will someone contact us?
  • Yes, if your forms are missing information or contain errors a Yuba College representative will contact you.
  • Do I only need to email YCAdmissions@yccd.edu my recommendation form to be enrolled in courses through Yuba College?
  • No, while emailing YCAdmissions@yccd.edu (must be done through your Yuba College Student Email Address) is one of the steps to enroll in classes through Yuba College, it is not the only step.
  • It is mandatory for students to submit an online application to Yuba College at https://yc.yccd.edu/admissions/ ; follow all steps listed.
  • Students must submit an application through the aforementioned website for each semester in which they wish to enroll in Yuba College courses.
  • ALL STUDENTS MUST LOG IN TO WEBADVISOR TO TRY AND ENROLL THEMSELVES IN AN OPEN/AVAILABLE SECTION OF THE COURSE(S) THEY WANT TO TAKE.
  • My student wants to take a Math or English course through Yuba College. Do they have to take a placement test to determine eligibility?
  • If a student is trying to enroll in a course that states a placement test is necessary, or the course has a prerequisite, they need to submit an unofficial copy of their current high school transcript to YCAdmissions@yccd.edu along with their recommendation form.
  • You may email any of the SUHS Counseling and Career Center staff members a request for a PDF version of your students’ transcript.
  • Which classes should my student take through Yuba College?
  • Students may take any CSU/UC transferable course that is offered through Yuba College, so long as they meet any prerequisites that Yuba College has determined are necessary. This really depends on what the student plans to major in, what their interests are, if they are trying to meet both SUHS and college requirements.
  • Most of our students begin with Health 1, Counseling 10, Counseling 25, and Sociology 1. These are not mandatory, though they are a good place to start. So long the courses taken are CSU/UC transferable and so long as they do not take multiple courses that meet the same general education requirement over and over, they will be able to complete part or all of their college general education requirements while in college.
  • How many college courses can my student take?
  • High school students are able to enroll in a maximum of 8 units (most courses are 3 or 4 units each), which usually equates to 2-3 college courses per semester.
  • How do we get the High School Recommendation Form signed by a SUHS counselor?
  • You may email the completed form (all coursework information must be entered along with both the parent and student signatures) to any of the SUHS counselors/advisors directly. They will then sign the form and email it back to you.
